oPersonal Emergency Signal System (PNA) with Integrated Dead Man’s Switch

The Life-Tel 1 LTE Personal Emergency Signal System is specially designed to protect lone workers who operate at individual workstations, across large facilities, and in hazardous areas. According to the regulations of the professional association, employers are required to secure such employees with personal emergency signal systems to ensure immediate assistance measures can be initiated in an emergency.

The Life-Tel 1 LTE meets all requirements as a personal emergency signal device according to the relevant DGUV guideline.

The working person wears the Life-Tel 1 LTE on the upper arm and triggers an alarm in an emergency, notifying up to six phone numbers via SMS and/or call. This also happens if the person is no longer able to do so themselves (will-independent alarm / dead man’s switch). A manual (will-dependent) alarm can be triggered by the worker with just one button press.

Information on the Main Alarm Types and Their Functions

Position Alarm

The Life-Tel monitors the device’s position using a position sensor. If the wearer deviates more than 45 degrees from the preset position over a defined period, the Life-Tel triggers a pre-alarm. If the person does not return to the preset angle range within the pre-alarm duration (e.g., due to unconsciousness), the Life-Tel triggers the alarm and notifies the preset phone numbers via SMS and/or call.

Stillness Alarm / Dead Man’s Switch

For the stillness alarm, the Life-Tel monitors whether the user is moving. If no movement is detected after a user-defined time because the person is incapacitated, the device triggers a pre-alarm, which is indicated visually and acoustically. If the person does not move again within the pre-alarm duration, the Life-Tel triggers the alarm and notifies the preset phone numbers via SMS and/or call.

Time Alarm

With the time alarm, the Life-Tel signals at defined times or intervals by blinking the large buttons and emitting an acoustic signal. The user acknowledges the message by pressing any button, signaling that everything is okay. If no confirmation is received, the Life-Tel triggers the alarm and notifies the preset phone numbers via SMS and/or call.

Escape Alarm

This alarm reacts to frantic movements typical of an escape. After the pre-alarm, the Life-Tel triggers the alarm and notifies the preset phone numbers via SMS and/or call.

Fall Alarm

As an alternative to the escape alarm—if an escape alarm is unlikely at work but the risk of falls is significantly high—the fall alarm serves as an alternative in case of a fall.

Technical Alarm

To monitor functionality and readiness, the Life-Tel is equipped with several technical alarm functions. It checks battery capacity, GSM reception, and sensor functionality. If a limit is undershot or a sensor malfunction occurs, a technical alarm is triggered and the Life-Tel notifies the preset phone numbers via SMS and/or call.
