Outdoor smartphone with lone worker app for effective lone worker protection

The Life Tel 4 L-2 is a robust, certified outdoor smartphone with an Android-based emergency app. It was specially developed to protect lone workers and is particularly suitable for workplaces with increased risk as well as environments with loud ambient noise.
The device helps companies make hazardous lone work safer. In an emergency, the user can manually trigger an alarm via the SOS button. Additionally, the Life Tel 4 L-2 automatically detects certain danger situations, such as immobility, unusual changes in position, or frantic movements.
Alerting can be organized internally, for example via gatekeepers, plant security, company security, or an in-house control center. Alternatively, connection to an external 24-hour emergency call center is also possible. Alarms can be transmitted by call and SMS, including GPS coordinates for quick location of the affected person.
Inactivity Alarm / Will-Independent Alarm (Dead Man’s Switch)
The inactivity alarm, also called a dead man's switch, detects when the user has not moved for a previously defined period. This can be an indication that the person has fallen, is unconscious, or otherwise unable to act.
Before an alarm is forwarded, the device first triggers a pre-alarm. This is signaled visually and acoustically so that the user can cancel a false alarm in time. If there is no response, the Life Tel 4 L-2 automatically sends an alarm to the stored phone numbers or to a connected control center.
If the lone worker is working outdoors, the GPS position can also be transmitted. This allows contacts, emergency services, or company response teams to locate the affected person more quickly and initiate targeted assistance.
The Life Tel 4 L-2 is usually worn on the upper arm. In an emergency, the user can trigger an alarm via the lone worker protection app or the SOS button. Even if the person is no longer able to act, the device can automatically request help through will-independent alerting.
Lone Worker Protection App
The integrated lone worker protection app supports fast and structured alerting in emergencies. It enables the configuration of important emergency functions and helps to quickly locate the affected person.
The app allows alarm sequences, contacts, and various safety functions to be configured. This makes the Life Tel 4 L-2 flexible for different work areas, risk profiles, and operational safety concepts.
Conscious Alarm
SOS Emergency Button / Panic Button
The red SOS button is used for immediate manual alarm activation by the user. With a simple press, help can be quickly requested in an emergency.
After activation, the Life Tel 4 L-2 informs the stored contacts via SMS and/or call. This allows responsible persons to respond immediately and initiate the next steps.
Unconscious Alarm
Inactivity Alarm / Man-Down Function
The inactivity alarm monitors whether the user moves within a defined time period. If no movement is detected, a pre-alarm starts first. This gives the user the chance to cancel the alarm if there is no danger.
If the user does not respond, an emergency alarm is automatically triggered. The previously specified contacts or a control center are notified via SMS and/or call. This ensures an alert can be sent even if the user can no longer actively call for help.
Position Alarm
The position alarm monitors the device's position using a position sensor. If the Life Tel 4 L-2 deviates significantly from the preset position for a defined period, for example by more than 45 degrees, a pre-alarm is triggered first.
If the device does not return to the normal position in time, the stored contacts or the control center are automatically alerted. This function is especially helpful if an unusual body or device position may indicate an accident or fainting.
Time Alarm
The time alarm reminds the user at set times or defined intervals to actively confirm their safety. The reminder is both visual and acoustic.
By pressing a button, the user confirms that everything is okay. If this confirmation is missing, the Life Tel 4 L-2 automatically triggers an alarm and informs the preset contacts via SMS and/or call.
Escape alarm
The escape alarm reacts to frantic movement patterns that can occur in dangerous situations or during an escape. If the device detects such movements, it first starts a pre-alarm.
If this is not canceled, the Life Tel 4 L-2 triggers an alarm and informs the stored phone numbers or a connected control center. This allows quick support to be organized even in suddenly escalating situations.
Fall alarm
The fall alarm can be used as an alternative to the escape alarm when there is a higher risk of falling in the respective work environment. If the device detects a possible fall event, an alarm process can be started automatically.
This function is especially suitable for activities where lone workers are exposed to increased physical risks, for example in technical facilities, field service, on company premises, or in hard-to-reach work areas.
24-hour service / emergency call center
You decide who is notified in an emergency and what information is transmitted. The alert can be organized internally through your own contacts, security personnel, or an operational control center.
Alternatively, the Life Tel 4 L-2 can be connected to an external 24-hour emergency call center. This center can process incoming calls and SMS, assess emergency data, and initiate further measures if necessary.
Recommended by professional associations and the DGUV
Personal emergency signal systems according to the product standard VDE V 0825-1 are suitable for personal emergency signaling during hazardous lone work. They help companies implement requirements from DGUV Rule 112-139 and improve the protection of lone workers.
The Life Tel 4 L-2 offers a practical solution for this: robust hardware, automatic and manual alarm functions, GPS tracking, and flexible alarm forwarding to internal contacts or external emergency centers.
Note:
The Life Tel 4 L-2 is ideal for work in environments with high noise levels of approximately 80 – 100 dB-A.
